NEWS | 30 NOV 2016ATLANTA, Georgia — On Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 29, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra announced that it has named Stephen Mulligan as its new assistant conductor. The two-year contract begins with the 2017-’18 season, and includes an option for a third year. As part of his new position with the ASO, Mulligan will also serve as music director of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Mulligan replaces Joseph Young, who in 2014 became the first African-American to hold the post with the ASO, as well as music director of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. •
