Listen to John Lemley’s interview with pianist and Bach Yard Playdates host Orli Shaham:

Orli Shaham’s Bach Yard is a live interactive concert series for children age 3-8. Founded by pianist Olri Shaham in 2010, it was originally called Baby Got Bach.

Shaham’s latest Bach Yard project is Bach Yard Playdates, is a new series of 5 to 10-minute videos of Bach Yard programming, hosted by Orli. The ten episodes are being rolled out weekly by Kaufman Music Center. The series is currently scheduled to run through June 28.

  • KSU 21 generic

The new videos are hardly Shaham’s first forays into broadcasting and internet media. WQXR radio in New York City commissioned her to create original stories set to recorded music. The four episodes aired weekly in December 2019, and live on forever on WQXR’s website.

Shaham is also deep in the midst of recording all of Mozart’s piano sonatas. Volume 1 is due out later this year on the Canary Classics label, and she is currently sharing one movement of a sonata every week, at OrliShahamMozart.com. In addition, she has been guest host for several episodes From the Top episodes, and was recently named regular guest host and creative of the program.
