Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta announces major new gift, Board of Advisors, and 2020-21 season

EarRelevant Staff | 8 SEP 2020

These are difficult times for most music organizations, but Emory Chamber Music Society of Atlanta (ECMSA), the largest organization of its kind in the Southeast, bucks that trend with the announcement of two exciting steps forward for the organization: a major new gift of $500,000 from an anonymous patron, and the establishment of a distinguished Board of Advisors to support their activities – the first in ECMSA’s history.

“This new gift and the formation of a Board for the first time will help us to more fully realize the vision for the ECMSA,” says artistic directo rWilliam Ransom, “supporting our Quartet in Residence program (held by the international award-winning Vega String Quartet) and allowing us to continue to spread this great music throughout all sectors of the Atlanta community and beyond.”

In addition, ECMSA’s 2020-21 online season begins on Friday, September 11, and will include a brand new series of noontime concerts, entitled “Bach’s Lunch,” in collaboration with First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, to complement the Society’s three existing series – the Emerson series, Cooke Noontime Series and Family Series.
