Czech-born Austrian composer, pianist, and pedagogue Carl Czerny (1791 – 1857) may be best known for his books of studies for the piano, but he wrote over a thousand compositions. He held some prominence as one of Beethoven’s best-known students.
We offer here three “concertante” chamber works by Czerny: two for a trio of flute, cello, and piano, and one for flute and piano.

The musical connections to Atlanta in these videos are through cellist and pianist Dorothy and Cary Lewis, who recorded the album with flutist Jacqueline Hofto. The Lewises were long-time active musical residents of Atlanta for decades, both members of The Lanier Trio. They currently reside in Portland, Oregon.
Originally released on vinyl LP in 1984 (Musical Heritage Society – MHS 4893K), the videos are presented here in the order they appeared on the album. ■
