Atlanta Symphony Orchestra welcomes William R. Langley as Interim Associate Conductor for 2023-24 season

Atlanta, GA— The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra announced today the appointment of William R. Langley as Interim Associate Conductor and Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra for the 2023-24 season when the ASYO celebrates its 50th anniversary and the ASO’s Talent Development Program turns 30.

Langley will make his podium debut with the ASO this Saturday, July 1, leading the orchestra at the patriotic Look Up Atlanta concert at Centennial Olympic Park. The event runs from 5-10 pm, with the ASO performing at 8 pm, followed by the Southeast’s largest fireworks show.

After starting his career as an orchestral conductor at age sixteen, Langley founded the Wolf River Chamber Orchestra (Memphis, TN) in 2009, followed by the Memphis Repertory Orchestra in 2011. Langley also serves as conductor of the Blueshift Ensemble, a contemporary music ensemble in Memphis dedicated to new and existing chamber works and multi-genre collaborations.

Langley has also appeared as a guest conductor with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Memphis Symphony Orchestra, Starling Chamber Orchestra (Cincinnati, OH), Concert:Nova (Cincinnati), and All of the Above Ensemble (Cincinnati).
