JONS CREEK, Georgia— The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra has named Philip Kim as its next executive director, the organization announced Wednesday. Kim, who has worked in nonprofit leadership roles focused on development, marketing, and communications, will assume the post in November 2025. He succeeds former executive director Linda Brill.
Kim will work with the symphony’s board of directors and music director Henry Cheng to guide organizational planning, artistic initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
“I am thrilled to join the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra and work alongside Henry, the musicians, and our dedicated staff,” Kim said in a statement. “The arts have the power to connect and inspire communities, and I look forward to building partnerships, deepening engagement, and supporting JCSO’s continued growth and impact in Johns Creek and beyond.”
Kim most recently oversaw marketing and communications for the Ohio State Bar Foundation, where he collaborated on strategic planning and public outreach efforts. He has also held leadership roles with several arts and media organizations, including We Amplify Voices, Matter News, and the Hilltop Arts Collective. Earlier in his career, he worked in statewide arts advocacy with Ohio Citizens for the Arts.
“Philip is a dynamic and visionary leader with extensive experience in nonprofit management and a strong commitment to community engagement,” said board president Peter Hiltebrand. “His knowledge, creativity, and passion for the arts will be invaluable in advancing the orchestra’s mission and expanding its impact.”
As executive director, Kim will oversee administrative and operational functions while strengthening organizational sustainability and supporting future growth.
Now in its 19th season, the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra presents concerts, education programs, and community events. Founded in April 2007 by J. Wayne Baughman, its first music director, the ensemble is composed of professional musicians from across metro Atlanta and is currently led by music director Henry Cheng. ■
