On Saturday evening, Spivey Hall announced its 2023-24 concert season featuring expansive repertoires, hidden gems, intriguing discoveries, and classic performances of great historical works. It will be the first season curated by executive and artistic director Katherine Lehman, showcasing fresh artistic voices, artists with Atlanta roots, and international stars who make Spivey Hall one of their tour destinations.
Located on Atlanta’s south side on the campus of Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia, 492-seat Spivey Hall is world-renowned for its acoustics and design, specifically tailored to the performance of classical music, making it a favorite among performers and audiences alike.
Getting to Spivey Hall from different parts of Atlanta is relatively easy, thanks to its convenient location just off Interstate 75. Visitors from Downtown Atlanta can reach the hall in less than 30 minutes by car; from the northern suburbs it takes about 45 minutes. From the intown east side of Atlanta, taking Moreland Avenue (US 23 South) to Forest Parkway is another convenient option with a drive time of roughly 35 minutes.
Spivey Hall’s 33rd Season highlights include a season-opening celebration with pianist Inon Barnatan performing works by Schubert and Rachmaninoff. Pianist Marc-André Hamelin will return with cellist Johannes Moser to present a concert of French and French-Canadian works. Soprano Sondra Radvanovsky and pianist Anthony Manoli will make their first appearance at Spivey Hall, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will return for a performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, led by ASO Concertmaster David Coucheron.
New artists taking the stage this season include baritone Justin Austin, pianists Alexander Malofeev and Simone Dinnerstein, the Isidore Quartet, Atlanta-native and jazz pianist Joe Alterman, the Cantus Vocal Ensemble, Nobuntu Women of Zimbabwe, and organist Joshua Stafford, who will perform with the classic 1923 film, The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
