ATHENS, GA— The University of Georgia Performing Arts Center (PAC) has announced an impressive lineup for its 2024-25 UGA Presents season, featuring a stellar array of award-winning musicians, celebrated international ensembles, and acclaimed performing artists. The season, spanning from September to June, will host performances across the UGA Performing Arts Center, Fine Arts Theatre, and the historic Morton Theatre.
Among the highlights are Grammy Award-winning soprano and Kennedy Center Honoree Renée Fleming, and the Grammy-winning jazz sensation Samara Joy. Also returning are the world-renowned Vienna Boys Choir and the celebrated British vocal ensemble The King’s Singers. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will deliver two standout performances: Handel’s Messiah in December and a season-closing tribute to the film scores of John Williams.
PAC Director Jeffrey Martin expressed his excitement for the new season, noting the resurgence of audience engagement following challenging years. “The last two years have been just as exhilarating and hopeful as the two years before those were uncertain and bleak,” Martin said. “Our audiences have returned in a very robust way, propelling us headlong into a thrilling new era of creativity, inquisitiveness, and joy.”
This season, the largest in UGA-PAC’s history, places a significant emphasis on celebrating female artists. The “Women Who Shine” series will feature performances by Pulitzer Prize-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens, multi-platinum Mexican mariachi artist Aída Cuevas, Broadway star Jessica Vosk, and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Kathy Mattea.
Student engagement remains a core mission for PAC. Highlights include masterclasses with visiting artists and collaborations such as the UGA Wind Ensemble performing with contemporary music group Eighth Blackbird and a jazz celebration of Duke Ellington featuring pianist Jason Moran and UGA’s Hodgson School of Music students.
Since its inception in 1996, the University of Georgia’s Performing Arts Center (PAC) has stood as a cornerstone of the arts in Athens, Georgia, providing a premier venue for artistic expression and community engagement. Boasting state-of-the-art facilities such as the 1,100-seat Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall and the 360-seat Ramsey Concert Hall, the PAC has earned acclaim for its superior acoustics and intimate settings, accommodating a diverse array of performances spanning classical music, theater, dance, and more.
