Jazz gets back to nature with “Sundays on the River”

Roswell, GA— The Chattahoochee Nature Center has announced the return of its summer Sundays on the River Concert Series with three live concerts with in-person audiences by some of Atlanta’s best-known jazz artists in the Center’s own Ben Brady Pavilion. The series kicks off this Sunday, Julyb 11, at 7pm with subsequent concerts held on the second Sunday in August and September. Here’s the rundown:

  • July 11 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
    Joe Gransden Quartet with vocalist Robin Latimore
  • August 8 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
    Kevin Bales Quartet with vocalist Keri Johnsrud
  • September 12 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
    Joe Alterman Trio

Doors open at 6:30pm for each.

Gransden, known for his hard bop approach to trumpet, opens with an evening of jazz, blues, and swing. Bales will feature music by the late children’s television icon Fred Rogers. Alterman closes the series with his trio’s hard swinging sounds.

Located at 9135 Willeo Road in Roswell, Georgia, the Chattahoochee Nature Center is a private non-profit environmental science center encompassing 127 acres along the Chattahoochee River with garden, woodland, and river boardwalk trails featuring rehabilitated native wildlife and a Discovery Center with the only Nature Exchange in the southeast that serves as the interpretive center for the river. The Ben Brady Pavilion is accessed by way of the Discovery Center.

Note: There is local construction in the area and the Chattahoochee Nature Center can only be accessed from the east near Azalea Drive, however the Center is open during construction.
