ATLANTA, GA— The Atlanta Chamber Players have announced their concerts for the 2021-22 season – their 46th since the mixed ensemble of winds, strings and piano was founded in 1976.
Three concerts are planned in metro-Atlanta featuring both in-person and virtual experiences, performed by the ensemble’s array of high-caliber artistic talent. Here’s the schedule:
- Sunday, November 14, 2021: @ First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. A tribute to living American composers featuring the world premiere of Notes From Inside, by Benjamin Krause – the expanded winning commission from the January 2021 Rapido! National Finals; Peace by Jessie Montgomery, Dies Irae by Kenji Bunch and Southern Harmony by Jennifer Higdon. Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3. The concert will be live streamed with a limited number of in-person tickets available, as conditions allow.
- Sunday, February 6, 2022: @ Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Arnold Schoenberg’s Verklärte Nacht, Op. 4 and Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes. Featured musicians: Alcides Rodgriguez, clarinet; David Coucheron and Helen Hwaya Kim, violins; Zhenwei Shi and Catherine Lynn, violas; Rainer Eudeikis and Brad Ritchie, cellos; and ACP artistic director Elizabeth Pridgen, piano.
- Sunday, March 27, 2022: @ Ahavath Achim Synagogue. The concert highlights French masterpieces: Trio for Flute, Oboe and Piano by Madeleine Dring; César Franck’s Piano Quintet. Featured musicians: Todd Skitch, flute; Elizabeth Koch Tiscione, oboe; David Coucheron and Helen Hwaya Kim, violins; Catherine Lynn, viola; Brad Ritchie, cello and ACP artistic director Elizabeth Pridgen, piano.
To ensure the health and safety of all patrons, musicians, staff and volunteers, ACP will continue to follow all current local, state and federal COVID-19 recommendations and protocols at its partner venues and will utilize trusted mitigation practices. ACP will post the most up-to-date health & safety information on its website and social media as conditions may change throughout the season.
In addition to its main concert series, ACP will perform a six-event Soirée Subscription Series and maintains a robust outreach program to target young musicians in the metro area, as well as important performance opportunities and national exposure to underrepresented, aspiring composers of any age from across the country.
