Dallas, TX— Four dynamic young women conductors, Celia Llácer Carbonell, Yuwon Kim, Blair Salter, and Anna Sułkowska–Migoń, will be front and center in the grand finale concert of The Dallas Opera’s Linda and Mitch Hart Institute for Women Conductors, an intensive two-week residency that includes working with some of today’s most renowned maestri.
The first part of the hybrid-format residency took place with virtual sessions in November 2022, followed by a second half comprised of in-person sessions in Dallas later this month.
The culminating “Showcase Concert” is scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2023, at the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House in Dallas. Each participant will conduct The Dallas Opera Orchestra and singers in a program featuring selections from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Bizet’s Carmen, Puccini’s Tosca, and Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking.
Launched in 2015, TDO’s Hart Institute is the world’s only program of its kind, seeking to address the extreme gender imbalance of leadership on the podium and in administration in opera companies. Now in its eighth year, more than 500 women conductors from 40 nations have applied to be trained, advised, and supported by this initiative, which has helped change the face of classical music by advancing women’s careers as conductors. ■
