Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth to showcase international ensembles and returning favorites in its 2025‑26 season

FORT WORTH, Texas— The Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth launches its 2025–26 season next month with the first of eight Saturday afternoon concerts at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Titled “Subtle Connections Across the World,” the programs link international ensembles and returning favorites with new collaborations, pairing Brahms and Dvořák with contemporary voices such as Pierre Jalbert and Arvo Pärt.

The season opens September 13 with pianist Hyeyeon Park and artistic director Gary Levinson leading a CMSFW ensemble in a program of chamber works that expand traditional sonorities: Brahms’s Trio for Horn, Violin, and Piano, Alan Shulman’s jazzy Rendezvous for clarinet and string quartet, and Dohnányi’s rarely heard Sextet in C Major.

On October 11, the Hermitage Piano Trio returns to Fort Worth with a program exploring the interplay between Russian and Spanish idioms. Based in the United States, the ensemble has earned multiple Grammy Award nominations and international recognition. Their program includes Glinka’s impassioned Trio Pathétique, Albéniz’s Granada, de Falla’s Seven Popular Spanish Songs, Turina’s Piano Trio No. 2, and Mariano Perelló’s Tres Impresiones.

Fan favorite Louis Lortie joins the CMSFW Ensemble on November 8 for two late-Romantic piano trios by Fauré and Saint-Saëns, the latter a rarely performed gem. In his CMSFW debut, violinist Asi Matathias joins Levinson, violist Michael Klotz, and cellist Inbal Segev for Dvořák’s beloved Piano Quintet in A Major.

The new year continues January 10 with pianist Orion Weiss performing alongside Levinson, Klotz, cellist Clive Greensmith, and bassist Eugene Levinson in Dvořák’s Piano Quartet No. 2 and Louise Farrenc’s Piano Quintet No. 1, spotlighting the 19th-century French composer’s growing recognition in chamber repertoire.

On February 28, the Berlin-based Leonkoro String Quartet makes its CMSFW debut. The quartet’s name, meaning “lionheart” in Esperanto, comes from Astrid Lindgren’s tale of loyalty and courage. Their program pairs Mendelssohn’s youthful String Quartet in A Minor with 20th-century works by Henriëtte Bosmans, Erwin Schulhoff, and Webern’s Langsamer Satz.

March 21 brings the Dover Quartet and clarinetist Romie de Guise-Langlois in a program that combines Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet with Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4 and a new commissioned work by Pierre Jalbert, Equilibrium, written for clarinet and string quartet. The commission, shared among several chamber societies nationwide, will receive its first Metroplex performance.

The Atrium String Quartet celebrates its 25th anniversary April 18 with the program from its inaugural 2000 concert: Mozart’s String Quartet in D Minor, K. 421, Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 7, and Tchaikovsky’s String Quartet No. 3. A CMSFW favorite, the ensemble is praised for its dynamism and charisma, and now resides in Berlin.

The season closes May 9 with Fort Worth’s own Vadym Kholodenko, the 2013 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist. Known for his range of repertoire and poetic style, Kholodenko will collaborate with guest artists in a program featuring Pärt’s meditative Fratres, Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet, and Tchaikovsky’s epic Piano Trio in A Minor.

Each concert begins at 2 p.m., preceded by a pre-concert conversation at 1:15 p.m. at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Tickets and more information are available through the Chamber Music Society of Fort Worth at cmsfw.org.
