ATLANTA, Georgia— Bent Frequency, one of Atlanta’s foremost contemporary music ensembles, has announced its 2024-2025 season, celebrating the start of its third decade with a series of seven ground-breaking events, continuing its mission of pushing contemporary music’s boundaries through innovative programming, cross-disciplinary collaborations, and community engagement initiatives.

The season will begin on September 19 with a concert titled “TE;XT,” featuring works by composers Daniel Felsenfeld, Stuart Saunders Smith, Anne LeBaron, Paul Lansky, and Charles Norman Mason. The performance, scheduled for 7 p.m., is part of Bent Frequency’s ongoing residency at Georgia State University (GSU) School of Music in partnership with the GSU College of the Arts.

Following the season opener, Bent Frequency will embark on a five-concert tour across California in early November. The tour will highlight premieres of new works by composers Pamela Madsen, Ken Ueno, and Kyle Rivera, with performances at prominent venues such as UCLA, Cal State Fullerton, San Jose State University, the Center for New Music in San Francisco, and UC Berkeley.

The season will continue on December 12 at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by the BF Duo Project, featuring Jan Berry Baker and Stuart Gerber, alongside guest artist Ken Ueno. This event is part of the Atlanta Contemporary’s Art Detour series. The following day, December 13, the ensemble will return to the historic Cabbagetown neighborhood for its annual community performance of Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night, a strolling sound installation presented in collaboration with the Cabbagetown Art Center.

Bent Frequency will then serve as the ensemble-in-residence at Emory University’s CompFest 2025 in February, a two-day festival showcasing compositions by Alvin Singleton, Adam Mirza, Katie Young, and Emory student composers. The festival will take place at Emory’s Performing Arts Studio on February 7 and 8.
