Georgian Chamber Players unveil 2024-25 season and guest artists

ATLANTA, Georgia— The Georgian Chamber Players have announced their 2024-2025 season, which will feature three concerts showcasing a wide range of classical chamber music works. The ensembles four core members (violinist David Coucheron, violist Zhenwei Shi, and pianists Julie Coucheron and Elizabeth Pridgen) will be joined throughout the season by a selection of guest artists that will include clarinetist Jesse McCandless, hornist Ryan Little, bassoonist Cameron Bonner, violinists Justin Bruns and Helen Kim, and cellists Daniel Laufer and Charae Krueger.

The season opens on October 15, 2024, at Eddie’s Attic, a noted venue for intimate performances. The program will include Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, K. 493 and a unique four-hand arrangement of Johann Strauss’ Blue Danube by Greg Anderson. The evening will also feature Peter Schikele’s Quintet No. 2 for Piano and String Quartet, known for its lively and diverse movements, blending classical style with modern elements.

The second concert of the season will take place on January 26, 2025, at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Highlights of this program include Mozart’s Quintet in E-flat Major for Piano and Winds, K. 452, and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 4 in A Minor. The performance will conclude with Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet in G Minor, a dynamic work that showcases Brahms’ ability to combine depth and playfulness in his compositions.

The season finale is set for May 4, 2025, at Ahavath Achim Synagogue. The Georgian Chamber Players will perform Brahms’ Piano Quintet in F Minor, Op. 34, a monumental work in the chamber music repertoire. The program will also feature Antonín Dvořák’s String Sextet in A Major, Op. 48, a piece that blends Bohemian folk influences with classical forms, offering a joyful and engaging conclusion to the season.

Founded by principal players of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 1984 in order to perform masterpieces of the chamber repertoire with their Atlanta Symphony Orchestra colleagues and world-renowned guest instrumentalists, the Georgian Chamber Players have established a reputation for performing both traditional and contemporary works with precision and artistic flair. Their 2024-25 season promises to continue this tradition, providing Atlanta audiences with an opportunity to experience world-class chamber music in a variety of intimate settings.
