ATLANTA, Georgia— Ensemble VIM, Atlanta’s all-women-run contemporary chamber collective, is poised to deliver a groundbreaking 2024-25 season packed with world premieres and innovative collaborations. The season kicks off on October 8 with a bold opening program, vimmersive/subversive, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. This season will further highlight the ensemble’s dedication to spotlighting underrepresented voices and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations.

Ensemble VIM (flutist Nicole Frankel, cellist Laura Usiskin, pianist Choo Choo Hu, and composer & double bassist Emily Koh) will offer a season that includes world premieres, unique partnerships, and outreach to the local community. The October 8 concert will feature George Crumb’s evocative Vox Balaenae, Marta Ptaszynska’s Moon Flowers, and a new work by the ensemble’s own Emily Koh.

The centerpiece of this season will be sparkweek, a week-long festival culminating in a February 10 performance at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, where three composers from across the country will collaborate with regional artists on new interdisciplinary works. This creative endeavor reflects VIM’s mission to elevate the work of both local and national artists, pushing the boundaries of contemporary classical music.

The season will conclude with a March 25 concert, viMOSAIC, in collaboration with the Mosaic String Quartet. The program will include works by living composers such as Caroline Shaw and Reena Esmail, underscoring VIM’s commitment to excellence in new music.

With a clear mission to amplify the voices of underrepresented artists, Ensemble VIM’s sixth season is set to be its most ambitious yet, blending artistic excellence with community-driven initiatives.
