Georgian Chamber Players unveil 2025-26 season

EarRelevant Staff | 9 SEP 2025

ATLANTA, Georgia— The Georgian Chamber Players, a staple of Atlanta’s chamber music scene since 1984, will mark their 42nd season in 2025-26 with three concerts in venues ranging from an intimate Decatur club to a prominent Buckhead church and one of the city’s largest synagogues.

Founded in 1984 by principal players of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the ensemble has built a reputation for chamber music that combines highly polished musicianship with the intimacy of smaller-scale performances. The upcoming season showcases a blend of tradition and versatility, featuring works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Borodin, and Rachmaninoff, along with a popular showpiece by Vittorio Monti.

The season opens October 26 at Eddie’s Attic, a Decatur listening room best known for singer-songwriter concerts. The 6 p.m. program pairs Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C minor with Mendelssohn’s Adagio and Allegro Brilliante for piano four hands and a new arrangement of Monti’s “Czardas.” Cellist Charae Krueger will join the group as a guest artist.

On January 25, 2026, the ensemble performs at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Buckhead with a program dedicated to Christopher Rex, the late cellist and founding member of the Georgian Chamber Players. Rex, who also served as principal cello of the Atlanta Symphony for more than three decades, helped shape the group’s sound and programming. The tribute features Borodin’s String Quartet No. 2, a work closely associated with Rex and was performed at his wedding.

The season concludes May 31, 2026, at Ahavath Achim Synagogue, where pianists Elizabeth Pridgen and Julie Coucheron will perform Rachmaninoff’s Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos on the sanctuary’s twin Steinway grands, capping the season with a large-scale work that showcases the ensemble’s pianistic capabilities.
