ATLANTA, GA— In the face of continuing concert cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as state and local governments place increasing restrictions on public gatherings and individual movement while urging the populace to practice “social distancing,” the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra has launched a “Virtual Stage” project on the internet which includes a web page featuring on-demand video plus a variety of other online events through social media: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
Touting the initiative as “more ways to engage” in the absence of live concerts, the ASO will offer ongoing content on all of its social media platforms each week, with hashtags for following the mix of online programming:
- on Mondays, #MusicianMonday will offer an inside peek of the ASO musicians.
- on Tuesdays the #ASOarchives will share stories and memorabilia from the orchestra’s 75-year history.
- on Thursday night the #LivingRoomConcert series will feature ASO videos and recordings, as well as recently broadcast live-stream concerts.
Learn more at the ASO’s Virtual Stage page.
